Maurice du Prée, born on December 17th 1971, in the city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The older brother of Vincent du Prée. Maurice started kyokushin karate at the dojo of Loek Hollander in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 1987 at the age of 15. Today, Maurice has become a smart and spirited kyokushin karateka, who remains very active in many kyokushin events.

After finishing his studies on Modern Japan, Maurice decided to study the Japanese language at the University of Foreign Studies in Kyoto, Japan. There he trained intensively under supervision of Shihan Kouichi Kawabata in Kyoto. Over time, Maurice has found his influences in Shihan Peter Voogt, Shihan Kouichi Kawabata, Sensei Remi da Silva Oliveira, Sensei Eric Constancia, Sempai Shin Itoh and team mate Sempai Rudolf Conquet.

Over the years Maurice participated in many Kyokushin kumite tournaments from 1994. He took 2nd place at the Goudse Kyokushin Championships in Gouda, the Netherlands in April 1999 and was awarded 2nd kyu in June of that same year in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

On March 12, 2000 Maurice participated in the Dutch Open Tournament in Dordrecht, the Netherlands and made it to the final 8 in the Light weight category. In July of 2001, Maurice graduated for his 1st kyu at Papendal in Arnhem, the Netherlands and was promoted to Shodan by Shihan Loek Hollander the following year at the European Summerschool at Papendal, The Netherlands.

Since 2002, Maurice has become a regular instructor at the Loek Hollander dojo in Rotterdam and has been teaching regularly in the Sidneykai dojo of Sensei da Silva. Lately he has been an important pillar to the coaching team of Shihan Loek's dojo and a motivator to the younger karatekas. In 2005 Tom Maliepaard became hist first student to win the Dutch title under his coaching.

Maurice is currently preparing to test for Nidan ranking at the International summer school in The Netherlands in 2006. He still trains at both Loek Hollander dojo and Sidneykai, where he became a regular instructor and team coach.
