Sensei Aat is -just like us- a student of the dojo of Shihan Loek Hollander and Shihan Peter Voogt. Sensei Aat started his dojo only 4 years ago and has been gaining more and more students ever since. Sensei Aat invited us to come train a few months ago. He built his dojo himself and was very eager to show us the result of his hard work and dedication to himself and his students to make this dojo what it is today. Probably the best looking Kyokushin dojo in The Netherlands.

The class
We came in a bit later than the students of Sensei Aat, but when we came in to the dojo we soon realised this is indeed a great dojo with a true kyokushin spirit that can be felt anywhere in the building. When we walked in we could already hear loud kiais coming from upstairs. When we walked in we were greeted by Sensei Aat who had us introduce ourselves to all students before we started with kihon and ido geiko. His students showed dedication and effort to become stronger karatekas.
After Kihon and many push-ups! we started with bagtraining where we formed two lines in front of two bags. Senpai Aat's student Stef (NiKyu) instructed the first part of the bag training. After about 10 minutes Senpai Maurice du Prée followed by Senpai Vincent du Prée and Senpai Richard du Prée instructed each 10 minutes of bagwork.
After the bag training, Senpai Maurice was asked to fill the remaining time of the class with fighting techniques. We did several blocking techniques and combinations before finally ending the class with loud kiais outside of the dojo while most of Krimpen was asleep. Our loud kiais filled the air.
It was great to see Sensei Aat and Senpai Arjen, who we had not seen for a while. Althought the class was hard for Senpai Vincent, who because of his injury hadn't trained for almost 2 years. It was more than worth the muscle ache and soreness the next days.
Our sincere Kyokushin thanks of course go out to Sensei Aat van der Wal and his dedicated students. It was great seeing you again. We wish you all the best! Osu.
Please visit Sensei van der Wal's website: www.aatvanderwal.nl and contact him if you wish to visit and train.
Osu!.
